Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for a research fellowship you must pass all the following eligibility requirements:

  1. You have completed, or will have completed by the 1st October 2025, an undergraduate degree at a university or equivalent institution. Undergraduate degrees include, but are not limited to: First Degrees, Bachelor Degrees and some lower Master's Degrees.
  2. You are a graduate of, or current student at, a university or equivalent institution in the UK or the Republic of Ireland.
  3. You are currently involved in full-time research for your first PhD degree.
  4. You commenced full-time research work no earlier than the beginning of the 2021/2022 academic year.
  5. If an unusual amount of time has passed since beginning your research, you are unlikely to be considered unless there are strong mitigating circumstances, such as:
    • some of the research was done part-time
    • a severe illness
    • a tragedy in the family
    • a gap due to full-time volunteer work
